Game Developers Conference, 2014-2017

Every year at GDC, I moderate the annual IGDA Game Writing SIG Roundtable. This is a service allowing newcomers and veterans to game writing a chance to collaborate and become a better community.

How to Read a Video Game

Western Washington University. Bellingham, Washington. 2013

Near the end of the quarter for a Critical English Theory class focusing on Heart of Darkness, I was asked to speak about Spec. Ops: The Line and using English Theory to discuss video games. This was one of my first opportunities to express myself academically for a group of students.

WANT TO WRITE FOR VIDEO GAMES?

GAMEACON. Atlantic City, New Jersey. 2015.

Want to learn how to write for video games? At Gameacon, Sande Chen, Matthue Roth, Francisco Gonzales spoke on how to do just that! Moderated by myself, I worked with the panelists on questions to get at the heart of working to create compelling stories and appropriate narratives for a medium that never requires the same thing twice.

The audio from the panel is now available on Sande Chen's website.
